NMIT Programmes

NMIT has developed, and is continuously designing, programmes that range from Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Master level. The diverse maritime-focused programmes are to be accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) as well as the appropriate certification bodies in the Netherlands.
The Bachelor's degree programmes that will be introduced in collaboration with our Dutch partners are Port & Shipping Management as well as Maritime Transportation Management. As for the Master's degree programme,NMIT is considering to introduce a course in Maritime Management. All the Diploma, Bachelor's degree and Master's degree programmes have and will be designed in such a manner that each student will have an opportunity to spend an appropriate time in NMIT's partner institutes in the Netherlands. This adds international value to the qualifications that our students will ultimately obtain.

All NMIT programmes are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) Malaysia and each programmes comprises of  7 semesters over a 2.5-year period. The programmes include a subsidised optional 2-week study tour in the Netherlands and a 4-month internship either locally or in Europe together with organised field trips to relevant maritime industry sectors in Malaysia and Singapore.
Our teaching faculty includes international guest lecturers and local lecturers who are respected maritime personnel with good credentials in the academic field as well as possessing relevant industry experience.With this, employment opportunities for our graduates is further strengthened in the maritime sector.

Our programmes are devised to provide students with in-depth knowledge on the maritime industry and maritime transportation as well as its interface with associated industries, particularly with sea ports. PELABUHAN DAN PERKAPALAN



OBJEKTIF

Objektif utama Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pelaut dan Pelabuhan adalah untuk:-
  1. Kekompetenan pelaut Malaysia diiktiraf di dalam dan luar Negara sesuai dengan keperluan Konvensyen STCW dan Ordinan Perkapalan Saudagar 1952.
  2. Memelihara hal ehwal dan kebajikan pelaut-pelaut.
  3. Semua pelabuhan dan jeti dibawh pengawasan Jabatan Laut sentiasa selamat dan sedia digunakan pada bila-bila masa.

AKTIVITI
  1. Pengurusan Perakuan Kekompetenan: 
    • Mengatur dan Menjalankan Peperiksaan Kekompetenan
    • Memproses dan Mengeluarkan Perakuan Kekompetenan.
    • Menilai dan Pengesahan Semula Perakuan Kekompetenan.
    • Menasihat Berhubung Standard dan Kekompetenan Pelaut. 
  2. Pengurusan Akreditasi Institusi Latihan Maritim: 
    • Memproses permohonan Institusi Latihan Pelaut.
    • Menjalankan audit ke atas Institusi Latihan Maritim.
    • Penentusahan dan Pengiktirafan Perakuan Kekompetenan.
    • Penentuan Keanggotaan Selamat Kapal Malaysia.
  3. Pengurusan Pelaut:
    • Pendaftaran dan Dokumentasi Pelaut.
    • Memantau Hal Ehwal dan Kebajikan Pelaut.
    • Menyelaras Penyediaan Kemudahan-Kemudahan Pelaut.
    • Urusetia Kumpulan Wang Pusat Perdagangan Laut.
  4. Pengurusan Pelabuhan: 
    • Mengawalselia Pengangkutan Kargo Berbahaya dan Aktiviti-Aktiviti 'kapal-ke-kapal' (ship-to-ship).
    • Mengawalselia Aktiviti 'barter trade' di Pelabuhan-Pelabuhan di Malaysia.
    • Pengurusan dan operasi Pelabuhan dan Jeti di bawah Jabatan Laut.
    • Mengawalselia Hal Ehwal Aktiviti Pelabuhan. 
ORGANISASI
  1. UNIT PENILAIAN DAN STANDARD LATIHAN

    Memastikan Institusi Latihan Maritim dan kursus-kursus yang dikendalikan mematuhi standard antarabangsa yang telah ditetapkan di bawah Kaedah-Kaedah Perkapalan Saudagar (Latihan dan Perakuan) 1999 dan Konvensyen STCW 1995 melalui auditan tahunan.

    Fungsi Utama :

    1. Pengurusan perjanjian dua hala berhubung pengiktirafan kekompetenan pelaut di bawah Konvensyen STCW.
    2. Mengeluarkan dokumen keanggotaan selamat.
    3. Memproses permohonan pengamal perubatan untuk tujuan pemeriksaan pelaut.
    4. Mengeluarkan sijil akreditasi institusi latihan pelaut.
  2. UNIT PEMBANGUNAN PELAUT

    Melaksanakan dan mengurus hal-ewhal pembangunan pelaut selaras dengan Kaedah Perkapalan Saudagar (Kumpulan Wang Pusat Perdagangan Laut) 1984.

    Fungsi Utama :

    1. Urusan pendaftaran dan dokumentasi pelaut.
    2. Perkhidmatan kebajikan pelaut.
    3. Pembangunan kerjaya pelaut.
    4. Pengurusan pusat rekreasi pelaut.
  3. UNIT PEPERIKSAAN DAN PERAKUAN PELAUT

    Memastikan pengurusan peperiksaan lisan Perakuan Kekompetenan dilaksanakan dengan mematuhi Kaedah-Kaedah Perkapalan Saudagar (Latihan dan Perakuan) 1999 dan Konvensyen STCW 95.

    Fungsi Utama :

    1. Pengurusan peperiksaan kekompetenan pelaut.
    2. Memproses dan pengeluaran Perakuan Kekompetenan Pelaut dan Sijil Kursus Modular.
    3. Khidmat nasihat berhubung standard dan kelayakan kekompetenan pelaut.
    4. Menyelaras urusan dan aktiviti pemaliman.
  4. UNIT PENGURUSAN PELABUHAN, KARGO DAN BARTER TRADE

    Merancang dan memantau program pengurusan pelabuhan termasuk perkhidmatan feri bagi pelabuhan kecil, terminal dan jeti di bawah bidangkuasa Jabatan Laut Malaysia.

    Fungsi Utama :

    1. Mengawalselia urusan ketibaan dan pelepasan kapal di pelabuhan-pelabuhan.
    2. Pengurusan dan operasi pelabuhan kecil di bawah bidangkuasa Jabatan Laut Malaysia.
    3. Menyelaras dan memantau pembangunan dan aktiviti barter trade.
    4. Mengawalselia dan memantau perkhidmatan feri penumpang dan pengendalian kargo

 EduCity@Iskandar

is now expected to accommodate 16,000 students upon completion, instead of the initial projection of 12,000 students. It also a total development area of 305 acres.Education@Iskandar Sdn Bhd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Iskandar Investment Bhd and is incorporated as a special purpose vehicle to spearhead the development of a world class education hub within Iskandar Malaysia. EISB is responsible for implementing all education initiatives in and around EduCity@Iskandar, which will comprise of international universities, schools and colleges, recreational facilities and sports facilities.
EISB’s partnerships have brought reputable education institutions to Iskandar Malaysia, such as

 1. Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed Malaysia), which accepted its first intake of students in September 2009 and will open its EduCity@Iskandar campus in 2011. 

 2. In 2009, EISB also signed an agreement with Marlborough Overseas Ltd to establish Marlborough College Malaysia, scheduled for completion in 2012. 

 3. In 2010, EISB signed an agreement with Maritime Intelligence Sdn. Bhd., Maritiem Instituut De Ruyter and Maritiem Instituut Willem Barentsz to establish the Netherlands Maritime Institute of Technology (NMIT) in EduCity@Iskandar by 2012. While waiting for the campus in EduCity to be completed, NMIT will commence its operations temporarily in Kotaraya mid of this year.

EISB also announced collaborating with Raffles Education Corporation to conduct a feasibility study to establish a multi-institutional education campus in Iskandar Malaysia which will include the launch of Raffles University Iskandar as part of its first phase of development.
