NMIT Programmes
NMIT has developed, and is continuously designing, programmes that range from Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Master level. The diverse maritime-focused programmes are to be accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) as well as the appropriate certification bodies in the Netherlands.
The Bachelor's degree programmes that will be introduced in collaboration with our Dutch partners are Port & Shipping Management as well as Maritime Transportation Management. As for the Master's degree programme,NMIT is considering to introduce a course in Maritime Management. All the Diploma, Bachelor's degree and Master's degree programmes have and will be designed in such a manner that each student will have an opportunity to spend an appropriate time in NMIT's partner institutes in the Netherlands. This adds international value to the qualifications that our students will ultimately obtain.

All NMIT programmes are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) Malaysia and each programmes comprises of 7 semesters over a 2.5-year period. The programmes include a subsidised optional 2-week study tour in the Netherlands and a 4-month internship either locally or in Europe together with organised field trips to relevant maritime industry sectors in Malaysia and Singapore.
Our teaching faculty includes international guest lecturers and local lecturers who are respected maritime personnel with good credentials in the academic field as well as possessing relevant industry experience.With this, employment opportunities for our graduates is further strengthened in the maritime sector.

Graduate' outcomes will, amongst others be built on the basis of competencies which will include mastery of the body of knowledge, practical skills, social skills and responsibility, ethics and professionalism, critical thinking and problem solving, communication skills and team work. Specific attention will be focused on information management, knowledge technology, lifelong learning, entrepreneurship and management. Hence, NMIT is committed to ensure its graduates will be able to demonstrate competencies as required by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
Our programmes are devised to provide students with in-depth knowledge on the maritime industry and maritime transportation as well as its interface with associated industries, particularly with sea ports. Our courses fully take into account new legislations and the changing patterns of the maritime industry.
NMIT believes that one of the pillars of attaining global competitiveness in the maritime industry is developing adequate and well-trained human capital.
Our presence in EduCity@Iskandar in the near future is a sign of our commitment to be a major player in the Maritime education sector and it is also in response to the government's realisation towards the importance of the Maritime industry in Malaysia.
If Malaysia is to achieve the goals of industrialization, productivity-driven growth and enhance competitiveness, much will depend on how the maritime sector is managed as it plays a major role in enhancing productivity-driven growth.
